A big victory in Animal Testing

In April last year, hundreds of activists raided the Greenhill facility and liberated dozens of beagles from the facility where they were “born to die and sentenced to suffer”. It was this raid that created a wide attention toward the problem of breeding for torturous lab testing of dogs in Italy and eventually led to yesterday’s climactic move which has officially stopped the breeding practice. Beagles suffer in many testing facilities in various parts of Europe and America. In the United States, around 70 thousand dogs are reportedly tested each year, subject to most horrifying conditions and brutal deaths due to various invasive procedures inflicted on them. Most of these dogs are from the beagle breed as these are small, docile dogs, easy to handle in captivity. With the closure of the Greenhill Farm, Italy has set an example for the US and the rest of the world as to granting dogs and other animals the right to live without pain and torture brought on by humans. The senate in Italy is even considering banning altogether the breeding of dogs and other animals – cats and primates – to supply for lab testing or research work."

April is animal cruelty awareness month.

If anyone truly knows me, they know that I absolutely adore my animals. All of them, well the birds not so much really, but, I make sure they are taken care of as long as they are under my care. For April I am writing trying to help the animals. Trying to raise awareness. Trying to get people to realize the enormous situation we have with shelters and dog fighting and cruelty. Please do you part and help. You know, I have to share a story. Since my doggies have switch to organic food they have put on some pounds, which is good because my one dog has gone through throwing up problems when her stomach becomes empty. Seems she outgrew it and it also seems kinda common for Labradoodles. So my daughter and I are out walking our dogs and before we leave our street we hear a scratching noise on the fence across the street from where we are standing. We look to see a pit bull hanging from the fence. We're thinking "there's no way this dog is gonna make it." SURPRISE. She made it and came charging for my dogs. After the second of panic I take charge (I have two dogs and my child with me) and stick my foot out to block my littliest dog from what was charging at her. Then in my deep dog training voice yell....NO GO HOME. So, she did. She went back home and they let her in the front door. Here is the reason I am telling you this. She was a pit bull, people are afraid of pit bulls. This family is very lucky that I am not. So I walked to the front door and a teenager opens the door. I tell her what happened and her response was "Yea, she does that so we bought her a chain." I think she saw the look on my face, where the heck is the chain. Two points to make here.... 1. If I was afraid of pit bulls I would have called the police and had the dog deemed as aggressive. Easily could end up in a shelter or even put down. For your dogs sake be responsible! It wasn't the dogs fault he came over the fence. You knew about it, take care of it. 2. Don't put that chain close to the fence. I could've easily been over there trying to save the dog from hanging itself. They are under your care, make sure you use sense.

Meet Braydon 04 - 22-13 Update : Braydan ♥ 2:20 pm :""( ----- what you all been waiting for , just as TAO has been waiting with you. However we already sadly knew the extent of his injuries and where or how he got then without even seeing this dog . More of a reason TAO rescued him . Braydan’s physical exam was today and Vet notes that Braydan's life has been hell .Apparently his estimated age is about 1 to 1 1/2 years old . His injuries are in no way done by a cat a raccoon or a mountain lion as Waco shelter stated . Braydan's wounds on paws up are symmetrical, meaning identical ( impossible for a cat to do but not for a razor blade). Dog fighters inflict razor cuts on Bait dogs to incite a blood lust in the fighter dogs. His cut wounds are consistent with that. In addition to these horrible cuts and large gash, his skin is nothing but tissue ..it has no muscle as it should be ( on front legs ) and what this means he's suffered before and he also had old wounds in the same area ( paws and up ). Keep in mind BAIT DOGS are used as bait because they don't want to fight .. this means he didn't want to .. there's a difference between a bait dog and an actual dog that is trained to fight . He was picked up as a stray and brought to the Waco shelter. To TAO, this speaks to Braydan having escaped or more likely dumped, and the dog fighters just believed that he would bleed out. Per vet, his hind legs show signs of possible being contained / kenneled for long periods of time . His muzzle shows bite wounds and also shows his muzzle may have been taped shut at one point ! Dog fighters often use duck tape to do this. not cat scratches :"" Vet says no surgery at this time as we need to let him rest and wounds heal .. Today he will start additional antibiotics , pain meds and hydrotherapy . Judy spent all morning with him and enjoyed it very much !! He gave her nothing but kisses and his tail wagged the whole time . They went for a walk outside the vet office , he got new toys today and chew bones :) he loves treats and his food :) Braydan will have the life he should have .. his whole life has sucked and TAO is sick to our stomachs even thinking on how he suffered .. well not anymore !!
